In this uncertain time of global pandemic, we’re sending everyone wishes for health, safety, and support. This situation feels like it may be a long haul, but we hope you are finding big and small ways to connect, create, help, and make it through.
We wanted to write a quick blog post about what’s changed at Rose Metal Press during this crisis:
—Ordering Books: Because we are considered a non-essential business and are under shelter-in-place/stay-at-home orders, we have disabled the direct ordering/shipping via our website, EXCEPT for preorders of Juditha Dowd’s Audubon’s Sparrow, which will release May 19. We are just not able to safely process and ship books and get to the post office under current conditions. On each book’s page we link to other available sellers like our distributor, Small Press Distribution, and Powell’s. Many small bookstores are able to order you our books via their websites as well, and they certainly need your support right now. Also, nearly all of our books are available as e-books.
—Events: All Spring events for Evidence of V and Audubon’s Sparrow have been canceled. We hope to reschedule many of them for late summer/early fall.
—Audubon’s Sparrow by Juditha Dowd: We have moved the release of Audubon’s Sparrow to May 19 and hope to be able to begin shipping copies again that week. We’ll keep the site updated if anything changes. If you are a reviewer and would like a PDF e-galley of Audubon’s Sparrow, please email us.
—June Reading Period: We still plan to hold our June open reading period for hybrid manuscripts.
Otherwise, we are currently working from home on our future books.
We hope that our books and the books of other small presses provide some solace, inspiration, and distraction in this difficult time. We’ll get through this together.
